Layered Salad with Common Ingredients
Ingredients (for a 20-22 cm dish):
- Potatoes – 2-3, boiled and grated
- Fresh herbs (parsley or dill) – 1 bunch, chopped
- Mushrooms – 150 g, fried and chopped
- Garlic – 1 clove, minced
- Carrots – 2 medium, boiled and grated
- Onion – 1 medium, finely chopped (can be sautéed if preferred)
- Eggs – 3, hard-boiled, whites and yolks separated and grated
- Processed cheese – 160 g, grated (can use any soft melting cheese)
- Salt/Spices – to taste
- Mayonnaise – for dressing between layers
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Boil the potatoes and carrots until tender. Let them cool, then peel and grate them separately.
- Hard boil the eggs, cool, peel, and separate the whites from the yolks. Grate both parts separately.
- Fry the mushrooms with minced garlic until golden, then let them cool and chop finely.
- If desired, sauté the onions until translucent and let them cool.
- Layer the Salad:
- Begin with a layer of grated potatoes at the bottom of a clear serving dish. Season with salt and pepper and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise.
- Add a layer of fried mushrooms on top of the potatoes, followed by a mayonnaise layer.
- The next layer is sautéed onions, followed by more mayonnaise.
- Add a layer of grated carrots, mayonnaise, and then a layer of grated egg whites.
- Finally, cover the egg whites with a layer of processed cheese.
- Top the cheese with the grated egg yolks, spreading them out to cover the cheese completely.
- Garnish:
- Garnish the sides and top of the salad with the remaining fresh herbs.
- Chill and Serve:
- Cover the salad with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, remove the wrap and serve the salad chilled.
