Rose Kimbap Recipe

Rose Kimbap Recipe

Servings: Makes 4 rolls

  • 6 eggs, seasoned with 4 pinches of salt
  • 350g rose-colored sausage, thinly sliced
  • 4 sheets of nori (seaweed)
  • Romaine lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 400g cooked sushi rice, seasoned with 2 pinches of salt, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of roasted sesame seeds
  1. Begin by whisking the eggs with salt and cooking them in a non-stick pan to create a thin omelette. Once cooled, cut the omelette into strips.
  2. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo rolling mat, shiny side down. Spread an even layer of seasoned rice over the nori, leaving about an inch uncovered at the top.
  3. Arrange the romaine lettuce across the center of the rice, followed by strips of the omelette and rose-colored sausage.
  4. Lift the edge of the bamboo mat closest to you and roll it over the ingredients to start forming the kimbap roll. Squeeze the roll gently as you go to keep it tight. Continue rolling until the entire sheet is rolled up.
  5. With a sharp knife, slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. For a clean cut, wipe the knife with a damp cloth between slices.
  6. Serve the kimbap with soy sauce, pickled radish, or a spicy dipping sauce of your choice.
  • The key to perfect kimbap is balance in each bite – not too much rice, and a harmonious mix of fillings.
  • If rose-colored sausage isn’t available, feel free to substitute with any deli meat that you prefer.
  • Adjust the amount of sesame oil and seeds to taste, and ensure the rice is not too hot when spreading it onto the nori to prevent it from tearing.

Enjoy this kimbap as a delightful snack, a part of a romantic meal, or even as a special way to convey your feelings to someone special. The visual appeal and delicious flavors will surely make it a memorable dish.
