Homemade Pizza Recipe
Pizza Dough Ingredients:
- Warm Water – 300 ml
- Pressed Yeast – 8 g
- Salt – 1/2 tsp, heaped
- Vegetable Oil – 3 tbsp
- All-Purpose Flour – 600 g
Pizza Toppings:
- Meat or Sausage – as desired, sliced or diced
- Mozzarella Cheese – 150-170 g, shredded
- Pizza Sauce – 2-3 tbsp
- Tomato – sliced
- Fresh Herbs – such as basil, oregano, or parsley, to taste
Instructions:
- Make the Dough:
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm water in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the heaped 1/2 tsp of salt and the 3 tbsp of vegetable oil.
- Gradually incorporate the 600 g of flour, mixing until a dough starts to form.
- Knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise for 2-3 hours if using immediately, or store it in the fridge for 1-3 days.
- Preheat Oven:
- If you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to the highest temperature possible, usually between 250-300°C (482-572°F), and let it heat for at least 30 minutes before baking. Use a pizza stone or steel if available for the best crust.
- Prepare Toppings:
- Prep your toppings: slice or dice the meat, slice the tomatoes, shred the cheese, and chop the herbs.
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a border for the crust.
- Add your meat or sausage, followed by the tomato slices and shredded mozzarella.
- Finish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
- Bake the Pizza:
- Transfer the pizza to the oven. If using a baking sheet, you may not need a pizza stone.
- Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden-brown.
- Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve hot.
