  • Ground beef – 1 lb (450 g)
  • Onion – 1, diced
  • Garlic cloves – 3, minced
  • Carrot – 1, diced
  • Bell pepper – 1, diced
  • Celery stalks – 2, diced
  • Canned tomatoes – 200 ml, crushed or diced
  • Pasta – 250 g, any short variety like shells or penne
  • Parsley – chopped, for garnish
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Italian herbs – 1 teaspoon, dried mix
  • Olive oil

Sauté the Vegetables:

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion, minced garlic, diced carrots, diced bell pepper, and diced celery. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

Cook the Beef:

  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the pan.
  • Cook the beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it’s browned and no pink remains.

Season:

  • Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, and Italian herbs. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

Add Tomatoes:

  • Pour in the canned tomatoes and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Cook the Pasta:

  • While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
  • Drain the pasta and reserve a cup of pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency if needed.

Combine Pasta and Sauce:

  • Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.

Serve:

  • Transfer the pasta to serving plates.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and fresh flavor.

Enjoy:

  • Serve hot with a smile, and enjoy the comforting taste of this classic pasta dish!

This pasta dish is perfect for a satisfying family dinner or when you want to impress your friends with your cooking skills. Bon appétit!
